Instead of traveling to the mountains to train or exercise let the mountains come to you.

Altitude training works for everyone from Sports training, Personal training, Weight loss, General health and fitness, Rehabilitation and Acclimatization. Altitude training will allow you to gain maximum benefits while minimizing the exercise time required to achieve your goals.

Altitude Training

Commit-2-Bfit has the first Adelaide altitude training chamber.

This means you can train the way the world’s best athletes train, at an affordable price. Altitude training will allow you to gain maximum benefits while minimizing the exercise time required achieving your health and fitness goals.

Benefits:

- New blood capillary growth
- Improved anti-oxidant balance
- Micro-organism efficiency
- Improved physiological function
- Strengthened immune system
- Promotion of health and wellness
Exercise is the key to weight-loss. It burns calories whilst being performed, but it also causes calories to be burned in the hours following the exercise session and this is where Altitude  Training can take your fitness program to new heights. Altitude training exposes the body to reduced oxygen levels enabling the body to receive the benefits of vigorous exercise at comfortable, moderate exercise intensity while reducing the stress on muscles and joints. Because there is less oxygen available in the air you are breathing, less oxygen is therefore circulating in your blood (measured by a pulse oximeter). It is in response to this that the body makes many adaptive changes as to how it uses oxygen as well as its available energy stores. Overweight people have very poor carbohydrate and fat metabolism ( stored rather than used) and therefore have a lower exercise capacity. The body utilizes fat stores differently at altitude and activates the burning of fat stores immediately thus having a greater overall weight loss effect. The way the body uptakes and utilizes glycogen from the system also changes and thus makes energy consumption more efficient. Metabolic rates are also increased and calorie burn continues for a period of 12 – 15 hours after the end of altitude exercise.

Altitude Training and Sports Performance

Oxygen is the limiting factor in sports performance. When insufficient oxygen is delivered to the muscles fatigue sets in. Hypoxic Training improves oxygen delivery and utilisation at all levels. Altitude training has been tested, resulting in improved aerobic performance, improved oxygen utilisation, enhanced power output and speed, improved strength and endurance, increased exercise-till-exhaustion (ETE) time and reduced recovery time after exertion.
Altitude and Rehabilitation
Oxygen delivery to damaged muscles is crucial in speeding up recovery from injury. Hypoxic training has been proven to increase oxygen delivery to damaged tissue. Localised oxygen treatment at the point of injury is an established rehabilitation aid. Unfortunately when the oxygen device is removed from the damaged area the beneficial results are also removed. Hypoxic training on the other hand, increases your own individual ability to get oxygen to the damaged area. When you are not doing the hypoxic training (the remaining 23 hours of the day) you are left with an increased oxygen supply to the affected area.

Altitude and Travel

Each year, thousands of people ascend to altitude, whether it is for rigorous mountaineering or a ski vacation. Mountaineers must spend weeks base camp acclimatising to the harsh hypobaric and hypoxic conditions they will face in their trek to the summit. By exercising in hypoxia before leaving for an expedition, you can pre-acclimatise and prepare yourself for exposure to extreme altitude. Through the physiological adaptations users can expect the following benefit:
- Reduced symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness
- Improved probability of reducing time spent acclimatising
- Improved probability of a successful summit attempt or ski vacation
- Improved power and endurance
- Decreased recovery time and fatigue
